LIKE YOU –  SONG LYRICS

Verse 1
I lived a life of shame
To darkness I was slave
I couldn’t see the Love of God,

The lamb that was slain
My fate of death exchanged
A King surrendered for this wreck!

Verse 2

My sins you washed away
Forgiven, not disdained
I am called a child of God,

My faith is in your name
Jesus King of Kings
Love like yours lifts my soul!

Chorus

Oh Nobody is like you
Oh Nobody is like you
Oh Nobody is like you
Oh Nobody is like you

Your love is deeper,
Your heart is kinder,
Your Word is sweeter
What can be like you

Pre – Bridge

No one is Higher!
No reign is Mightier!
No King is Wiser!
Who can be like you!

Bridge – No Weapon

No weapon will prosper against us!
You are fighting!
I’m rising crushing down enemy’s camp!
We are conquering!

OVERVIEW

The song expresses the sacrificial work of Christ on the cross who being God in the flesh, Creator of our universe, descended from His throne and surrendered to be crucified in the place of all sinful men. Our sins were placed on Jesus who was perfect in all His ways. But, we sinners were let go free and called no longer slaves.  Christ being the only one who bore the penalty of our wrong doings suffered a horrific crucifixion to His death. Thus, we can heartedly cry out OH No Body is Like Him. Death has been conquered, Christ our King rose again in great Victory. Hence, no weapon will prosper!!. (ref. Isaiah 53, John 1:1-16, 19:1-42  NKJV) ,

LYRICS – STUDY NOTES

The song starts with the verse I lived a life of shame, to darkness I was slave…, portraying the adulterous woman brought to Jesus to be stoned to death. Yet Jesus to her defence stood and said He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first.” (John 8:1-7). Her accusers vanished one by one. Then, Jesus addressed to the woman “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more. And to everyone witnessing He stated, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” (John 8:12).

Again the scripture states “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved (John 3:16-17).

I couldn’t see the love of God. The scripture states while we were still sinners Jesus the Son of God died for us, whereas no man would dare to die for a law breaker (Romans 5:6-11). Jesus while hanging on the bloody cross he prayed “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” (Luke 23:34).

My fate of death exchanged. Like the adulterous woman, we all were heading to an eternal damnation, to a place called hell. Yet Jesus God’s only Son, Creator of heaven and earth descended in human form to take the place of every person. It was out of His own divine will that He surrendered Himself to pay the penalty of death we all deserve.  Furthermore, it was on the cross that He bore our wrong doings, pain, and sufferings, and rose from the dead in great triumph so that we who believe in Him may be saved and have eternal life.  (John 1:1-16, John 10:17-18, John 20:1-29, Isaiah 53,

It is a free gift handed to everyone who believes; forgiveness of our wrong doings, the cleansing of our sins, the renewal of our spirit, and the offer of eternal life. No one earned it, and no human being can ever be perfect to save themselves. Yet Jesus was perfect and died for all of us out of mercy and grace. Hence, it is by faith in Jesus, not out of our own goodness that we are saved. (Ephesians 2:1-10, Romans 10:8-11, Hebrews 10:11-14. If we claim one can be saved by only being a good person we will be justifying any sin as an act that deserves no judgement, because, no human can ever be perfect in one’s conduct. God is Perfect and Holy and everyone who comes near Him must be the same. Truthfully, we all have done mistakes and fallen short, Therefore, Jesus shed His blood on the cross so that through Him who alone is our righteousness we can be reconciled to God and called children of God. (Ephesians 2:12-22, Romans 3:21-31, Gal 3:1-14).

His written Word is sweeter than anything, and His Grace is sufficient above and beyond what the world has to offer which is temporary. Jesus the Son of God is the Word that became flesh and lived among mankind to proclaim truth and grace. What can be like Him? Every material possession and earthly experience is unfit to be compared to Jesus and His Word which is everlasting. When you encounter Jesus Christ upon surrendering yourself as you are by faith in Him, that is everything. He is what and all we need (John 1:1-16, 2 Corinthians 12:7-10).

Who can be like Him?
He is God Almighty, Prince of Peace, Wonderful Counsellor, Everlasting Father, The Beginning and The End, who took on the likeness of men to save men by laying himself down on the cross and victoriously rising again! His reign is exceedingly Mightier than any other reign. Sovereign God!—The Great I am! who was and is to return!! (Isaiah 9:6-7, John 1:1-16, Revelation 22:12-13)

Therefore, no sin, no Satan, no darkness, no tribulation will prosper or separate the believer from the love of God. Yes, you will face trials and tribulations in this world, yet, they will not triumph over you as you remain in Christ and His Spirit abides in you. Hence by the power of His Holy Spirit you too can rise and crush the enemy’s camp over your life. That is every form of stronghold drugging your soul, that has kept you from being whole (sin, bondage, addiction, fear, depression, etc.). For in Christ we inherit the Holy Spirit that completely transforms and give us great boldness, love, and freedom, where the power of sin is broken, and fear is cast out forever!

Yet,  as long as we are in this planet we fight the good fight of faith, wearing the full armour of God so we can be able to stand firm till the very end (Romans 8:14-16, 8:31-39 , 1-Timohty 6:12, Ephesians 6:10-17, Mathew 16:18,  Act 4:31,  2 Tim 1:7 )
